IT´S TIME TO EXPAND
MARITIME CULTIVATION

In recent years, interest in the use of algae as a sustainable source has increased significantly. Algae can be used for food supplements, bio stimulants, animal feed, biofuels and other products.

In order to make algae cultivation accessible and to break down the entry barrier, Cerberus Seaweed Systems is developing a new cultivation system to

The buoy system HYDRA consists of a swimming vessel and several cultivation cages, that allow different substrate material (e.g. twine or substrate plates) to be attached. The system is designed in a way to provide the algae with as much sunlight and water movement as possible.

The cultivation cages can be configured to suit the needs of the algae populations. For example, by choosing different substrate carriers, they can influence growth conditions through light intensity and topologies that are matched to each algae species.

The inoculated substrate can be inserted and secured. They are effective, easy to maintain and can be adapted to the specific needs of algal populations. With these advantages, the modular cultivation system can help to meet the increasing demand of biomass in the most efficient way.
